Chesterfield Farm

Brought the kids to Chesterfield Farm which is in the outer suburbs in the East. Its a small animal farm where you can see and feed farm animals. We went for a cow-milking demo and 'hands on'. At the nursery, you can touch and pet some of the smaller farm animals like sheep, goats and rabbits -- Matthew liked part.

The 2 boys

Took some photos of the 2 boys when they are both awake and playful. Matthew seems to be enjoying more of Isaac's company now, and didn't mind being 'punched' by him. In fact, he kept moving towards Isaac when he's 'boxing'.

Matthew was 35 months old and Isaac was 8 weeks old at time of photo shoot.

Singapore Day 2008

It was a perfect sunny day for this event! We registered ourselves in August and I have been looking forward to today since then. All because of chilli crab, and roti prata.

The event was supposed to start from 10.30am, and we as (kiasu) Singaporean, went there at 9.30am, just to get a carpark lot that is near to the park. We were blessed to get a lot just 2 mins walk from the entrance and it was free parking some more. How nice it is to start the day! We then went for a light breakfast and then went back when it was 10.30am. To our horror, the queue started since 9am, and by the time we got there, there was already like 200 people in the queue! Thanks to Cyndee for highlighting my pregnant state to the officials. They graciously gave us priority and escorted us near the front of the queue. Security was tight, there was even bag search and the area was fenced up with 3m high fences. After we got in, collected our goodie bag, we went straight to queue for chilli crab and roti prata! From the entrance queue, we proceeded to the food queue and by 11.20am, we managed to get in the queue for roti prata. It was only in the queue then we found out that chilli crab will only start at 12pm! That is more than 30mins of wait, but since I've come for this only, I went on to be the first for the chilli crab queue.

People behind us

See, every line is open except the chilli crab! Angry!

Audrey and I waiting patiently in the queue, finishing 2 bowls of laksa and roti prata already.

At 12pm, we finally got our chilli crab and we left the queue happy!

A happy me!

After eating, we went to watch the performances and Matthew had a fun time dancing to the music. Phua Chu Kang & co were there and he was really entertaining. Speaking all the singlish and cracking all the jokes that only Singaporeans can understand.

We didn't bother to queue up for the rest of the food, because it was simply too long, and we didn't crave for those so much.
See the crowd up the slope behind us? That's the snaking food queue!

PCK was there to entertain.

What's next?

We left the place satisfied and with a tired Matthew, who dozed off just 5 mins in the car. Thanks to the Overseas Singaporean body from the PMO for organising this event. We are sure everyone who went had fun.

Tulip Festival 2008

It was the Food, Wine & Jazz weekend at the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival. We went there early in the morning before it even open its door and was shocked to find a long queue waiting outside.

It was the AFL Grand Final today, so we weren't really expecting a large crowd. Looks like there are alot of non-footy fans afterall.

Weather forecast today was fine and at a top of 28deg. It was sunny alright, much better than the day when we went last year when it was wet and muddy. No complaints about the weather.

Matthew had a ball of a time trying to touch the tulips and walking in between flower beds.

He got so tired until he finally sat down on the ground.

We went back after a hotdog lunch over a jazz performance. Overall, it was a fun day with a superb weather! Looking forward to the one next year.

Mid Autumn Festival

We celebrated Mid Autumn Festival on 14 September with a bbq dinner, followed by lantern playing and mooncake feasting.

The weather forecast for that day wasn't so good from the beginning of the week, with rain and wind throughout the day. As the days go by, the weather forecast 'tamed' down to just showers and fine in the evening. Finally on that day itself, it was a fine and rainless day with temperature ranging from 16 - 19 degrees. So definitely have to thank God for the fine weather, which enabled everyone to have a fun time.

We invited 3 other families to join us, each bringing a dish/meat. It was also the first time we use the bbq pit after so many months of 'hibernation' during the colder months. The kids had fun playing with lanterns and riding bikes outside, while the adults feasted on the mooncakes after dinner.

One thing for sure, the mooncakes are cheaper than those selling in Singapore, especially if you get it on the day itself, you can expect to get at least 40% discount. We only paid $27 for some good quality mooncakes.

Anyway, it is always good to have a gathering with friends on festive season...feels just like back home. Will do it again next year.
